What special treatments are there for eczema?

blingding asked:

I have eczema on my eyelids, and it is actually a type of eczema called atropis dermatitis. I am 14 years old, and I have had it for so many years. I tried Elidel, anti-aging creams, and right now I am using TriCeram. But I have used it for a week, and what happened was, there was no more infected cuts or holes, but the itching became persistent and the redness spread. What can I use?
sorry i meant atopic dermatitis.

niceguy asked:

I have used elidel and sulfacite lotion and hydrocortisone creams and they work but not that great. I notice that when I take steroides for my allergies my face clears up completly then after I go off of them it comes right back. Also if I dont use soaps on my face it seems to get better but my face gets oily.

HELP! ECZEMA RASH ON MY CHEEK (IMAGE INCLUDED), has anyone tried using California Baby’s product with success?

Depressed Soul asked:

Ok, this is a bit long but it will only takes about 5 minutes of your time, I really need help on this problem, thank you! :(

I recently have this eczema pimple lookalike, pinkish-red kind of itchy rash on my right cheek :(

Image: http://img377.imageshack.us/img377/6934/rashhy6.jpg

I really don’t want to use back hydrocortisone or any other steroid creams anymore, because all these prescription creams has worsen the condition, causing my face sensitive to the sun as well. It’s like, when I stop using it, the problem comes back again 3 weeks later, and the problem comes back even greater. I’ve been prescribed non-steroid cream as well, Elidel and Protopic. Protopic burned my skin, and Elidel gave me cough (it’s proven it gives internal side effect).

I’ve had bad experience with moisturizer cream that contains Petroleum, Mineral Oil, and Paraffin because all these ingredients actually form an oily film that sits on top of the skin, preventing moisture from evaporating. It has a drying effect, it actually suck out the moisture of your lips/skin, which is why you have to constantly reapplying it.

I’ve just change my cleanser from “Cetaphil Gentle cleanser” to “California Baby Shampoo & Bodywash, Super Sensitive (can be used on face)”. Because RECENTLY I did a research about this harmful chemical ingredient called Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS), it’s actually cheap detergent that people used in car washes, as garage floor cleaners, and engine degreasers etc. After the research I looked at the back of the Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser and DANG, it has SLS and another harmful ingredient called “Propylene Glycol”. For Christ sake I’ve been using it for 4 years. :(

So now I’m looking for an alternative way to deal with this problem because I really don’t want to use back the stupid steroid cream or those moisturizer that comes with crappy ingredients.

Also, I was reading this California Baby Calendula Cream review over this site,

http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.asp?pid=54802&catid=26109&crpg=5&tab=1#1

The product was rated 4.5 out of 5 stars based on 44 users. 90% of them commented that the cream cleared off rash problems like cradle crap, eczema rash on face etc. Even some adults commented that they have facial eczema rash, perioral dermatitis, dry skin etc used this product and has worked wonders in healing their skin.

So today I just started using the California Baby Super Sensitive wash for my face, and have applied the the California Baby Calendula Cream on my face. It somehow stop the itch a bit, but I am wondering how long it will take to clear off the rash.

So has anyone of you tried using California Baby Calendua cream with success?

Also, can moisturizing alone clear off the eczema facial rash? Or am I doomed to use steroid?

Omg :( This is not a spam for christ sake! I posted here because this is a baby section and there’s a possibility that mothers here could have tried using CB cream for their baby eczema or whatever rash! I wanna know how long it will take to clear the rash! If you’re just going to post useless answer for the sake of the pathetic 2 points I suggest you just f*ck off. I don’t mean to be rude but it’s people like you that pissed me off. All I need is suggestion and help, that’s all I need.

Corticosteroids and Seborrheic dermatitis?

Joe Black asked:

Hi, I am currently 24 years old and suffer from seborrheic dermatitis since I was 17. At first it wasn’t really severe and didn’t know what it was so I didn’t take any medications or precautions. After it started to get worse my father took me to a dermatologist who gave me some corticosteroids and told me to go back a month later. Since the lotion really helped my case and me not being informed about it’s sever side effects on long term use, I started to buy the medication every time I had finished the tube. This happened over the course of 2 years and I didn’t really develop any severe side effects, except for acne (which I had a year of severe acne) but my skin was free of flares and irritation. I linked the acne to the lotion since I had never suffered acne before but I’m not really sure since many people get acne in high school. I then became aware of the severity of long term use and was really depressed when I stopped using it and my dermatitis came back after a few weeks stronger than ever, covering large parts of the face and scalp. I then went to another dermatologist who recommended I use the topical cream Elidel, and was told I could use it regularly since it didn’t have any reported side effects. I always buy this product in Mexico (I live in the border) since it is dirt cheap and it is the exact same product, brand and everything. It has become a habit ever since, and I cannot stop using it for a week or so without flaring up again. While in use it really helps me and my skin is great, it is oily and shiny sometimes but I prefer that over the redness and dryness of dermatitis. I recently found out that Elidel has been linked to skin cancer and other skin diseases and that it now has a black box stating it’s warnings on the us product, which I didn’t know since the mexican product doesn’t contain this warning. I now have years of use and I wonder if the couple of years of corticosteroids and the other years of Elidel can sum up to a future skin disaster. I am now again very frustrated since it has been my only door to a normal life. Well I would appreciate any info on the subject, and if anybody out there with this condition has any tips I would really really appreciate it. By the way I am now considering homeopathic treatment but we’ll see how that goes. Thanks and God bless.

What are these white patches on my arm?

Chanele G asked:

I have eczema, which is a genetic skin disorder that I got from my dad and have since I was born. I usually break out on my arms. But never like this. It usually just itchs, gets red, then peels. Normal reaction. I don’t want to go to the dermatologist because I’m broke. Should I use elidel on it? Which is the cream that “treats” it. Does anyone else have eczema? If so, have you ever gotten these?

Is this a serious issue?

Exotic Caramel-Canela de Panama asked:

Around this time 2 yrs ago i was feeling an itch in my right nipple, it was pretty bad to the point where it would leak pus and get stuck to my bra. i went to the doctor and they told me i had an abcess, they gave me elidel cream and it worked. my nipple looked how it was before, then once in a while the itching would come. it somehow spread to the other breast and there was no abcess in that one, but i got the same treatments and it has been better with very little itching. the itch never really went away, but it wasn’t bothersome. Just recently, i’ve been feelin an itch in both my breasts and it is discomforting. my nipple and areola is very sheer and normal looking, but i have some small ridges and very small pimple bumps afterwards when i scratch myself. sometimes there is dry skin peels around my nipple and on my areola. i don’t feel any pain or burning, just itching.
i think the first time i got that abscess was b/c i had a pimple on my breast and i touched too much, it popped. when i went tot he doctor, they told me it was good that i told them right away b/c i would’ve had to have surgery to get it out if i had waited sooner. i did that breast exam and they didn’t find any cancer or anything else seriously, they said it was common for women to get abscesses.
i think i have an eczema nipple rash, the symptoms seem similar.
