I really don’t want to use back hydrocortisone or any other steroid creams anymore, because all these prescription creams has worsen the condition, causing my face sensitive to the sun as well. It’s like, when I stop using it, the problem comes back again 3 weeks later, and the problem comes back even greater. I’ve been prescribed non-steroid cream as well, Elidel and Protopic. Protopic burned my skin, and Elidel gave me cough (it’s proven it gives internal side effect).
I’ve had bad experience with moisturizer cream that contains Petroleum, Mineral Oil, and Paraffin because all these ingredients actually form an oily film that sits on top of the skin, preventing moisture from evaporating. It has a drying effect, it actually suck out the moisture of your lips/skin, which is why you have to constantly reapplying it.
I’ve just change my cleanser from “Cetaphil Gentle cleanser” to “California Baby Shampoo & Bodywash, Super Sensitive (can be used on face)”. Because RECENTLY I did a research about this harmful chemical ingredient called Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS), it’s actually cheap detergent that people used in car washes, as garage floor cleaners, and engine degreasers etc. After the research I looked at the back of the Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser and DANG, it has SLS and another harmful ingredient called “Propylene Glycol”. For Christ sake I’ve been using it for 4 years.
By the way, I’ve spent a fortune for this problem and been to many dermatologists and ended up transferred to a senior skin specialist dermatologist, one of the best in my area but still pretty useless. And there was one time in 2006 I put on a full makeup, the brand was Clique. It was the first time and also the final time I applied makeup because after washing off I realised my face was peeling already. Then later that year I did a skin patch test and turned out that I’m allergic to a fragrance called “Lyral”. It’s is a fragrance that is present in many cosmetic products. I’ve not been putting any cosmetic to my face ever since that incident. Then this year I took IgE blood test and Food Allergy Test. My IgE stated 73 IU/ML and I asked the laboratory person what does it mean and he said that any number that’s under than 87 is normal.
The food in the test are Hazelnut, Lobster, Sacharomyes Cerevisiale, Shellfish Mix, Squid, Chicken, Codfish, Corn, Crab, Egg White, Milk, Peanut, Potato, Rice, Shrimp, Soyabean, and Wheat.
The food allergy test on the print-out all stated class 0, which means I’m not allergic to any of those.
I did a fungal test before but it turned out negative, which means I don’t have it. I’ve asked the dermatologist if mine was rosacea and he said no. I also once suspect this might be perioral dermatitis so I asked if I could take antibiotic but the dermatologist refused to give it to me and said that my type of eczema is called Atopic Eczema.
He told me that if I’m so paranoid to use back steroid cream, just keep moisturizing. I asked him if by moisturizing alone would it clear off the rash and he couldn’t give me a confident answer, he just replied, “it will improve the condition” -_-
He gave me this moisturizer called “Physiogel Al Cream”, these are ingredients,
Aqua, Olea, Europaea, Glycerin, Pentylene, Glycol, Palm Glycerides, Olus, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Squalane, Betaine, Palmitamide MEA, Acetamide MEA, Sarcosine, Hydroxyethyl-cellulose, Sodium Carbomer, Carbomer, Xanthan Gum
After trying out two times I still find it quite greasy even though there isn’t any petroleum or mineral oil.
So now I’m looking for an alternative way to deal with this problem because I really don’t want to use back the stupid steroid cream or those moisturizer that comes with crappy ingredients.
Also, I was reading this CB Calendula Cream review over here,
http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.asp?pid=54802&catid=26109&crpg=5&tab=1#1
The product was rated 4.5 out of 5 stars based on 44 users. 90% of them commented that the cream cleared off rash problems like cradle crap, eczema rash on face etc. Even some adults commented that they have facial eczema rash, perioral dermatitis, dry skin etc used this product and has worked wonders in healing their skin.
So I’ve been using the CB Super Sensitive wash for my face, and have applied the the CB Calendula Cream on my face for the fourth time. It somehow stop the itch a bit, but I am wondering how long it will take to clear off the rash.
So has anyone of you tried using California Baby Calendua cream with success?
Also, can moisturizing alone clear off the eczema facial rash? Or am I doomed to use back steroid?
Omg
P.S.
I’ve been on this “detox diet” for close to 6 weeks already, I’ve stop eating meat and poultry. I only take one meal a day which consist 1 plate of brown rice, and 3 serves of spinach and broccoli, 2 bananas and 2 apples. I’d take fish at most twice a week though. I’ve also been drinking only water, 12 glasses a day. I used to sh*t twice a week but ever since I started out this “detox diet” I’ve been sh*tting everyday. Yes, it does help to clean my bowel and liver but I still don’t understand why recently I get this sudden rash appearing on my right cheek.
No, I put it this section because there might be mothers here using CB cream with luck on their children who have eczema, or other kinds of rashes. I’ve also posted on other sections as well.

How can i get through army basic training without my face getting red and dry? ?
RAIDEN_S asked:
My plans are to join the National guard within a few months..For a couple of years I’ve had a mild case of dry skin on my face thats been “managed” with over the counter creams, like hydrocortizone 1%, oatmeal based soap, oitment, etc…I’ve been to the dermatologist and was never diagnosed with anything but, “face dandruff” he said. He perscribed me Elidel cream and I used it and works great for me, but I’m not in need of such a hardcore med. I can survive without a flare up for almost 4 weeks but, basic training is 10 weeks. When Im ready to go through meps and the doctor see’s my face and notices nothing at all, what do I say?? My other question is..How can I get by without flarring up in the middle of bct??

Can anyone please help me with this itchy rash type thing?
abay98 asked:
Okay, I have been having a lot of skin problems for a long time now. I’ve gone to two different doctors for it numerous times, and basically, it’s just shrugged off. My doctor from home asked me questions and said it sounded like I have excema, although she did no tests. She gave me a prescription for a steroid cream (elidel), but it only helps for a few minutes. The other doctor really just kept telling me to come back if it gets worse, and she’d tell me a couple tips but they didn’t really help. I went back to her a bunch of times, but I feel like it’s getting worse. Okay, to explain the rash…
I’ve had it everywhere on my body now. It’s always on my legs and a little on my arms, but my legs are definitely the worst. I can’t wear shorts because I have really red dry spots and scabs all over from scratching until I bleed. I know it sounds gross, but what I am supposed to do if the doctors won’t help? Anyway, I’ve had it on my face (where it itches, but also feels like its on fire)..
My stomach, back, and chest have also had a lot of problems. A few years ago I had an allergic reaction to a deodorant I used, but since then, these are the first skin problems I’ve had. I can’t handle it anymore. I use lotions and creams to help and I take benadryl sometimes, but I don’t know what else to do. The itching is driving me crazy and I lose SO much sleep over it. Will somebody please, please, please help me?!
any ideas to help soothe the itching???

Cut won’t heal?
person. asked:
I have had cuts on the backs of my ears for about a year. Ive been to the doctor twice. This all started when the skin dried out and got infected. They heal up (Kinda) and then in my sleep, I toss and turn and they rip open again. (I have proof, there are blood spots on my pillows.) The doctor gave me “elidel” which is some kind of white cream. I put it on twice a day and keep the area as clean as possible. (It oozes clear sticky liquid badly.) The cuts are deep red. How can I get them to heal? PLEASE help! I don’t want the infection to spread. Also, I have been extremely fatigued during the last six months, when the infection seemed to really get bad. Is it just normal teenage stuff, or does it have to do with the infection?

I have Eczema, I REALLY NEED HELP?
Depressed Soul asked:
It’s a very long story; but I hope you guys will be patient to read it, as I really need help.
I had chicken pox in the mid of 2004 (aged 16), it lasted for a month. After that, skin problem begins. At the end of 2004 I began to have this red and peeling thing at the side of my lips and I was prescribed a cream called Decocort. I used it regularly for about 6 months and the problem went away completely. But the problem came back around end of 2007 (aged 19) when I attend my sister wedding I put on Clinique makeup. Because of that “incident” I dare not to use any makeup anymore. I tried to use back Decocort but it doesn’t work effectively on me like it used to. I did a skin patch test and it came out that I am allergic to a fragrance called Lyral. I also transferred to see a senior dermatologist and he prescribed me Betamethasone 0.0125 cream which I used it on and off until early this August (2008) because I couldn’t stand the side effect that was giving me, pimples. It’s just a bit of pimples but I don’t like it, I mean who likes having pimples? I also noticed that my cheeks and chin often flushed, and my chin is always itchy. I went back to the dermatologist, he took a close look with a bright light and he finally said that I am diagnosed with eczema. I reacted quite skeptically because the problem is I don’t even have asthma and my parents don’t have eczema. My brother and sister have asthma and eczema though. I double checked with him if it’s Rosacea and he told me no, it’s eczema, he said mild eczema. He added that I can’t treat pimples and eczema at the same time so I was left with no choice but to treat my eczema first. He prescribed me a non-steroid called Elidel. I gave up after using for 3 days because it gave me slight cough and this warm feeling thing. I went back to the dermatologist and he prescribed me Fluocinolone cream and another non-steroid, an ointment called Protopic. He told me to apply Fluocinolone first for a few days and when my chin gets better I’ll have to switch to Protopic. He also gave me Cetaphil moisturizing cream and told me to apply it after one hour of applying Fluocinolone/Protopic. Take note I personally don’t like putting moisturizing cream, just don’t like having to feel an extra layer of something on my skin. I put Fluocinolone for a few days and my chin gotten redder. I stopped putting it and went to put Protopic and decided to listen to the dermatologist advise by putting moisturizing cream after an hour but to my shock, it worsen the problem by making my chin itchier, and it was only 2 and a half days Protopic already caused my chin and the side of my lips on fire (very red). I gave up and felt depressed. I stopped by not putting anything for a week and the condition subsided. Then I went on to put ONLY that Cetaphil moisturizing cream because my chin was peeling a bit. Then a week later the condition got under control. So I figured that the previous experience was either Protopic’s fault because it’s an ointment and ointment have this greasy/oily feel plus it contains paraffin and white petroleum (which I did a research and found out that petroleum is actually BAD to the skin) or perhaps I can’t put both Protopic and moisturizing cream.
Recently the new problem is that I suddenly have this small patch of orange-red kind of thing appearing around the left side of my lower cheek, a bit near to my lips which I figured it is eczema because it’s very itchy. This time I went to a GP because I have ran out of cash to see the dermatologist. The consultation itself for that dermatologist is not cheap, plus I’m very sick of all the strong steroid stuff he gave. Anyway, the GP refused to give me oral steroid because he’s afraid that it might cause me side effects such as fatness to the face and some bone/joint problem. He prescribed me antihistamine tablets “Xyzal” and the mildest hydrocortisone cream that required to store in a fridge. And this morning the small patch of thing on the lower part of my left cheek almost gone, it’s not itchy anymore BUT another one appears on the lower part of my right cheek and is itchy so I quickly apply that hydrocortisone cream to control the itch.
And now after typing all these out I feel extra depressed. Do I have to go on with this for the rest of my life? By the way, two days ago I saw an article online that the singer LeAnn Rimes also has eczema the article says that she is taking Elidel to treat her condition. It didn’t state whether she has facial eczema and so out of exasperation and utter desperation I went on to her Official MySpace music page and sent her message to ask about it. Today I check my MySpace sentout mailbox and it states that she hasn’t read it. I know that thing on my right cheek should be gone in 2 days time but I’m thinking if I should give Elidel another try to manage my condition. Since it’s a cream, and it doesn’t give out the greasy feel like ProTopic does. What would you do if you were me? Ca
Can someone please tell me what EXACTLY do I need to do in order to manage my eczema to prevent flare up? I’m really upset with my skin. I’m acting like an OCD freak ever since I’ve been told I have eczema. I keep washing my hands and using tissue to clean my laptop keypad and mouse at least 3 times a day.
I’m using Cetaphil gentle wash for my face and dove soap for my body. I’m the youngest in the family and I don’t have asthma. My sister had severe asthma and moderate eczema (more on the body) as a child but now at the age of 30 her asthma is mild and her eczema only comes in once in a while and it’s very mild, she has perfect facial face though. My brother also has asthma as a child but grew out of it by the age of 18. Now he’s 28 BUT strange thing is he got diagnosed with eczema last year and till now his condition is SEVERE.
I thought about it maybe my house has something that caused flare ups but the problem is I am only allergic to that one particular fragrance which is Lyral and that only appears in cosmetic (certain cosmetic). My mom also keeps the house as clean as possible. But weirdest thing is my parents don’t even have asthma or eczema.
My mild eczema is more obvious on my face, because my cheeks always flushed and the things I mentioned above. I hardly go out anymore because I have this feeling that people stares at my flushed face and my face is also very sensitive to the sun.

Why is cortisone cream bad for you?
smuckers asked:
I’m currnetly using Elidel to treat my eczema. I was told that cortisone creams and such are bad for you. I read that it can cause some terrible side effects, but what are they?
I was just wondering since I have been using this type of cream for a long time now (I’ve been using Elecon since I was about 5 years old, then switched to Triamcinolone Topical Cream for about 3-4 years, then to Protopic for about 2-3 years, and now Elidel for about 2 years). Is it okay if I have been using it on and off?
I was using it about 5 times a week for 3 weeks, then stopped using it for about 1-2 weeks. Do you guys think that is okay?
I have SEVERE eczema, and my terrible allergies don’t help (I’m basically alergic to everything). So if some of you could suggest some other treatments, that would be nice too (but please answer my other questions first)
Any helpful information is greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

How can I get rid of my eczema? (If that’s what I have; I’m not sure if that’s what I have or not)
angel rose asked:
It gets really red and swollen around my lips (not on them). I have tried just about everything from going to a dermatologist, trying elidel and steroid creams, lotions to reduce redness, anti itch creams, carmex, vaseline, and everything. I don’t know what else to do. It is EXTREMELY painful, more than you can imagine. If you can’t help that’s okay, but if you can, it would be greatly appreciated beyong what words can even say. Thanks.

Does anyone have eczema and what do you use to treat it?
kbates1208 asked:
My son has had eczema pretty much since birth. I’ve tried all kinds of lotions and creams on him. I’m trying to find out who has dealt with this, and what you used etc. I have heard that Elidel works, but its real expensice with my insurance. So any type of lotion or body wash you know of will be helpful.
